We are big fans of rice bowls at our house. They are super easy, tasty and can be quick depending on the ingredients. We have a rice maker which automatically makes it easier. If you don’t have a rice maker put it on your must have list. Put the rice and the water in and leave it – it cooks and keeps it warm so it can be done well in advance.

Our favorite brand is the Zojirushi which you can find in the local Asian Food Markets, as well as on Amazon, here.

For Asian rice bowls we usually do: rice, seaweed, sushi grade tuna or salmon, cucumber salad and rice seasoning. And soy sauce if you want as well.

For other types – get rotisserie chicken or roast your own if you have time, salsa, guacamole and some hot sauce and away you go.

Thai Chicken Bowls are great too –chicken, greens, cilantro, scallions and red chili paste if you have it – this one can be rice or broth based.

We eat our rice bowls out of some of my favorite pottery bowls from a local artist out of Asheville, but you can use any kind of bowl you like.

Since it’s football season I guess I would be remiss not mentioning sports bowls too – super, rose, sugar to name a few. Although I enjoy the rice bowls a little bit more 🙂
