Cobbler

cobbler \ cob·bler \ˈkä-blər

Definition of cobbler

  1. a mender or maker of shoes and often of other leather goods
  2. a clumsy workman
  3. a tall iced drink consisting usually of wine, rum, or whiskey and sugar garnished with mint or a slice of lemon or orange
  4. a deep-dish fruit dessert with a thick top crust

Definition from: Merriam Webster

I often think of the saying “a shoe cobbler’s kids have no shoes.” Our kids would totally agree in the food department. When we are busy the only things we are certain to have are coffee and milk. Hopefully that stops with those two occupations!

Cobble it together – I think that is a metaphor for a lot of what we do when we make dinner out of whatever you have in the fridge; create a new appetizer or soup from leftovers. I think cobbling it together is something we naturally do in our busy lives.

Last night for dinner we made fruit cobbler. Cobbler is delicious in all seasons. Apple, Berry or Peach. So maybe take time to savor the cobbler in whichever season or flavor you make it.
