It’s that time again – almost Thanksgiving my favorite holiday. Food, family, friends and no presents. Because of our crazy work schedule, everyone comes to us –in laws, my sister, my nephews, my kids and whatever friends and animals they bring (at least one of each for sure), and then lots of friends (most of whom are like family). Megan has coined our thanksgiving table as “The Island of Misfit Toys.”

We never actually know how many people are going to show up, but we always end up somewhere around 30. We make a lot of the food and people bring some too. We have turkey, gravy, brisket, traditional stuffing, cornbread stuffing, potatoes, sweet potatoes (two ways), creamed kale, squash casserole (not my version, but the old fashioned creamy calorie heaven that we indulge in two days a year – Thanksgiving and the morning after), roasted vegetables and whatever else anyone brings. We use chargers for dinner plates! I am always thankful this time of year for family, friends, customers, health, (most of the time) happiness, having a roof over my head, the ability to vote, dogs and a cat.

I will never live down neglecting Grace on our thankful turkey cut outs we wrote many years ago. So while I have an audience – Grace.
